An anal fistula is a chronically inflamed, abnormal tunnel between the anal canal and the outer skin of the anus. Fistulas often develop after a perianal abscess bursts spontaneously or is surgically drained. Even after the abscess has healed, the fistula remains open and continues to discharge fluid and pus. Infection of the anal glands (cryptoglandular infection) is the most common cause of fistula formation. Other causes include Crohn's disease, trauma, or surgeries in the anal area.<\/p>

The majority of fistulas, known as \"low anal fistulas,\" are curable. With modern laser therapy (FiLaC), such simple anal fistulas can be treated gently and with minimal risk. Complex, high fistulas are more difficult to treat. The Ksharsutra therapy is an effective treatment option for both simple and complex types of fistulas.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A pilonidal sinus (sinus pilonidalis) is a chronic inflammatory condition that occurs in the cleft between the buttocks (sacrococcygeal region). The exact causes of pilonidal sinuses are not clearly known. In cases of chronic fistulas, surgical treatment is required.<\/p>

Surgical treatments such as excision with open wound healing, Limberg flap (rhombic excision and closure), and Karydakis procedure (elliptical skin excision) are extensive operations, and wound healing may take several weeks.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Pit Picking Laser is a minor surgical procedure performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia and takes about 20 minutes.<\/p>

Before planning the pit picking laser surgery, the extent and path of the fistula are determined using ultrasound. The visible \"pits\" are excised under local anesthesia using a skin punch to access the fistula tract. The fistula is then cleaned and flushed. The tracts are treated with a special diode laser fiber, which carefully cauterizes the inflamed fistula tissue and any ingrown hair roots. The healing rate is approximately 80\u201390%.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In recent years, the Ayurvedic \"Ksharsutra method\" has gained worldwide recognition in the treatment of anal fistulas. This technique avoids surgical cutting of the fistula. Instead, a medicated alkaline thread is inserted into the anal canal. This thread, enriched with healing herbs, promotes the spontaneous healing of the fistula tract. The thread is passed through the fistula and left in place. The herbs support internal healing, and the thread gradually moves toward the fistula opening on the skin. The procedure can be performed as outpatient (day surgery).
