Colonoscopy

The safe precaution

The colonoscopy is the examination method of choice for the early detection of colon cancer and its preliminary stages as well as other diseases of the colon.

The examination is carried out with an endoscope (a tube-like instrument equipped with a special camera), during which the entire colon is viewed. During the colonoscopy, it is possible to take tissue samples (biopsies) and remove polyps.

The examination is carried out in sedation (twilight sleep).

Gastroscopy

The safe precaution

A gastroscopy examines the esophagus as well as the stomach and duodenum. Heartburn, unexplained upper abdominal pain and inflammation of the gastric mucosa are classic indications for a gastroscopy.

The examination is also carried out with an endoscope, in which the device is pushed through the mouth into the stomach. Samples can also be taken here.

The examination is carried out in sedation (twilight sleep).
